Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers see festivals more clearly: their programme choices, places, customs, preparation and the decisions involved in making a gathering. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the article you have in mind.
What we are looking for
Strong contributions have a distinct question and a clear answer for the reader. We are interested in evergreen explanations, useful comparisons, thoughtful histories and grounded plans that do not depend on unverified claims. A pitch should identify its central idea, the intended reader and what the piece will leave that reader better able to notice, decide or do.
A useful pitch
Include a working title, a short outline and a note about why the topic suits Bold Festival Review. Explain the approach rather than sending a broad subject alone: for example, name the choice, custom or programme detail the article will examine. Mention any sources or expertise the proposal depends on, and flag potential conflicts of interest. Please do not send confidential information or material you do not have permission to share.
Before sending
Please use the Contact page to submit a proposal or ask an editorial question. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; we may discuss its scope or request changes. Do not send a complete draft unless we have asked for one.
A festival is made of many small choices
The programme matters, but so do the pauses, paths and shared customs around it. We look closely at these details to make festival culture easier to understand and enjoy.
